Hello everyone,
I'm new to this website but I've been around the UBM for several years as both a non-member and a member. The number one thing I have always noticed at UBM functions is not only how much fun the adults are having, but how much fun the kids are having! I was wondering if there had ever been any talk of having free or discounted youth memberships (or maybe a youth club) as an additional way to bring in new members and help the kids to remember better the fun they had with their association with the UBM.

Thanks

Yea, I could have just asked Tom, but thought this would be more fun.

Rodney..Welcome to the campfire.

If my memory serves me correct, the UBM membership is set up as a family membership but the joining member is the only voting member. The rest of the family has all of the other membership benefits.

Of course, I'm an old timer and believe this is the way it was set up at the beginning. There may have been some changes since. Let's hear it from some of the more active members if there has been any changes.

There is always more room to improve the recognition and participation of our youth.

Rodney, I think you bring up a good subject. There will be a board as well as a general meeting at the rendezvous next weekend. We can talk about a youth membership.

Do you have any suggestions? Currently it is as Brad stated a family membership. For young folks that don't have parents as members there should be something.

Maybe dedicate a small section of your magazine to youth and youth activities...or have a youth club were the current members kids write articles and work with the adults to set up more kid oriented things to do. After a while it should take off and be self supported by the kids. Maybe even set up a thread on here for kids (most of them are more internet savy than us anyway). The main point that needs to come across (in my eyes) to the kids is that they can have fun with archery...after all there is no way that the UBM can continue in the future without kids becoming interested in our cause.
