I took a trip down to Benton County, for a turkey hunt, saturday morning. I finally got a chance to put a tag on a bird!!! With limited hunting time these days, I decided a Jake was good enuff, even though I have passed on them for probably a decade of hunting! The farm I was hunting, is where I made all my first kills. I killed this bird about 20 yds from where I killed my first ever turkey, and about 100 yds from where I killed my first double bearded Tom, that is mounted in me living room. I was just across the creek from where I killed my first deer with a rifle, a nice fat spike buck...And probably 75 yds from where I killed a nice doe, for my first bowkill. Turns out this nice jake had a double beard as well!!! I haven't hunted this spot in probably 8-10yrs, and it brought back a flood of memories!!! When I first got to the little creek, I closed my eyes and took a big sniff....It still smells the same!!! I sure learned alot, hunting that little patch of God's Country!!!
