Took my wife, Brenda, to the turkey woods this past Sunday. Our first setup had the turkeys on the wrong side of the fence, and too far away to call thru it. Later in the morning, we heard a gobble way to our East, and started sneakin'! We got a hen deke set out, and got comfortable. Before I even made the first call, I could see 2 Jakes and a big Tom out in the pasture, thru a string of trees. Didn't take but a few calls on both the Primos mouthcall, and the VECtor slate/PoorValley striker combo, and they were on thier way!!! The big Tom strutted into range, but wouldn't quite give her the right shot....And to make a long story longer, she missed Ol Big Boy, but ended up with a Jake for her first ever kill!!! 15lb, 14oz, 6" beard, and nubs for spurs. Not a bad start!!!! Plus, getting to see "The Show" made it all worth while as well!!! Her Dad got to share in the hunt as well.
