Kids,
Once I figure out how to add moderators, I will need some people to step forward and become moderators.
This site is open to the public, so anyone can join.
I don't think we will have heavy traffic from outside users but who knows.
If no one steps up, I will just assign moderators.
We will have some private forums for UBM members only, again I have to figure out how to set that up. We could even have a board members only forum if you want.
Do you want a classifieds section?
Our web guy is a proud new papa, so its going to be a couple of weeks before things get rolling on the website.
Hopefully by the Jeff City meeting, things will look better.
Scott
Congrats on the new web site AND the new PAPA status!!
classifieds would be nice. If you need a moderator, I have the time and am familiar with other website moderators. If you want someone else that is no problem either.

A classified section would be great.. I've not tried but is it possible to post photos? If not this would be a good feature for the new site.
Up coming "events" section would be good as well...

It appears pics can be posted.. I had to use a third party photo web hosting site (so that the pic "exists" somewhere on the web) ,, but it worked..

Scott, put me on the list as a moderator.
I can tell you from experience with the past msn website that there will be some wierd folks, (not hunters) sign up, and they can post some obnoxious stuff quick. The sign up stuff will eliminate the automatic spamers. The others are usually identified by sugestive sign-up names.
Ron
A few suggestions based on my meager experience:
-Event announcements, including location, time and date, and theme
-General, for everyone to chat about archery-related topics and share war stories
-Getting started, for newbies, which will eventually be reduced to Stickies for FAQs and introductions of new members
-Tuning, for dialog concerning the matching of bow, arrow, and archer to achieve consistent shot placement, including compound, modern-traditional, and bare bow styles
-Bowyer, should be obvious
-Fletching/Arrowsmithing, should be obvious
-Hunting, for discussion of varying techniques, equipment, and providing input/advice--not for war stories
-News, for posting articles concerning archery-related accomplishments/events/occurrences and legislative proposals.
-Traders' corner, for classifieds and horse-trading.
I'm sure I missed a few, but I thought I'd try and help open it up!
C'yall 'round!

thanks on the new papa status. if we can come up with a list of forums, sub forums etc then we can get those added.
It shouldn't take a couple of weeks, heck I am not sleeping anyways, might as well be working :)
If anyone has any problems using the forums until we get everything sorted out just let me know.
Scott, I am so sorry for your loss, and our prayers are with you. When you get ready just let me know, I will give you admin on the forums and show you how to add moderators, boards etc. NO RUSH

just added a new set of buttons. no more default blue buttons, they now match the forums.

Thanks for doing what you have done so far. It's coming along great.
I would LOVE for everyone to use their REAL NAME. People tend to get mouthy when they can hid behind a handle. Not that we have any mouthy people around here. :)
My 'callsign' is my nickname of 20-some years. The only folks who address me by my given name besides family, are government officials. Heck, I'm more apt to call Gene "Bodark" than I am to address him by his real name. :o
But, I know what you're saying, Joe. You can count on me to own up if I ever get mouthy. And as everyone will eventually find out, I'm rarely short for words. ;)
I've seen a forum header on another site called 'civilized discourse'. I like to call it the 'happy box', where moderators send threads on which people go nuclear without violating the TOS agreement. Folks using such a place either work things out, or burn out.
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea. Better to keep the topics specific to the mission and vision of UMB and leave folks work out emotionally charged philosophical differences via Private Message. That's what moderators are for--to keep the discussion on the topic.
