We brought home 3 bears. The most exciting part for me was videoing Justin shooting his bear with the Black Widow he won at the Festival!!! :D:D

I'll try to post some pictures asap, trying to get caught up, we made it home saturday after driving straight thru. Kinda wiped out right now.

Tom

P.S. Outfitter is donating another hunt for UBM for next year!!! Thanks Doug!!!!

Pictures of my bear, if it works?

Shot on the first evening hunt. Second bear on the bait, first shot opportunity. Seemed like a mile long recovery but really about 100 yds. Broadside shot, lungs.

Unknown until we arrived, there was another group of Missouri hunters hunting with our outfitter at a different camp area. You may recognize Shannon Block with the largest bear taken. He has attended our Rendezvous and the Festival, makes some selfbows but was shooting his compound for this hunt. Told me he wished he had brought his selfbow but wasn't sure how close the bears would be on his first bearhunt.

5 bears all taken on the first evening 2 more taken later in the week with 8 hunters taking 7 bears. We had chosen to field dress our bears and they did not so they look larger in the picture? All bears over 200#

We hunted with Doug Park in Dorion, Ontario. Doug donated a hunt to UBM and Justin bought it at the Festival. Doug is donating another for next year for UBM.

I don't think it is the same type of hunt as we have to do our own cooking and such. We did have a cabin on the Lake with electric but no runing water. Some camps may be 70 miles in the bush and have a construction type trailer to stay in with generators for power. We helped with baiting once we had our stands set with Doug furnishing the bait. He has over 500 sq miles to hunt so a lot of possibilities. He caters to bowhunters and is a bowhunter himself so he understands the needs.

This was our first bear hunt and we learned a lot!!! I hope to give it another try??

Hey Tom looks like a great hunt. I haven't been able to look at the photos until tonight. The UBM site wouldn't let me respond either. I had to re set. Anyway, Congrats to you and your son in law. I wonder if my wifes son in law would go bear hunting with me? I've got a big black fuzzy jacket for him

Hey Tom, did Mike Callahan go with you guys? If so, how did he do?
p.s. thanks for bringing up the camera, AGAIN!! My brother thinks that's hilarious. (You know the large fella who turned white and almost fell in the water.)

That last picture of the bunch looks like a great cover shot for the publication. Make sure we get the story on that one.
