...saw a groundhog today, scoping my garden plot. They sure played havoc with my squash last year, until I got their number and punched a few tickets. Like six of them, over a single acre.

Skittish critters they are. Wary. The one today reacted to me from 40+yards out. Reminded me of capybara.

Ah well. Helps me to work on my stalking until hunting season proper.:)

I don't know about 'fun'...There ain't alot to 'em besides skin, bone, and fat. Plus they're hard on the skinning knives. Still, they're a thing to be dealt with, like fleas on the cats or mites on the birds.

Although, they fairly resemble squirrel coming out the frying pan, or out of the crock pot. Waste not, want not, as the saying goes. But man, they're a sure'nuff pain in the butt I could do with less-of during "camera season"!

I've never eaten groundhog..do they taste like chicken :D

Skinned one out when I was a kid on the farm. One of the dogs killed the varmint and I thought it would be cool to have the pelt.I laid the hide on the hay wagon to dry out.

As luck would have it..the dog jumped up there and tore it up:mad:
