I think I have made a hunt on almost every opening day of Missouri's squirrel seasons since I can remember except when I was out of country serving in the US Army.

Our season always opens the Saturday before Memorial day. This year I will at least be out there trying....lol but unlike previous years, this year it will be with bow only.

I plan on getting to the woods early Sat. morning. But I don't think I'll pull out the grill beforehand waiting to BBQ any squirrels though, because this year I will not use my rifle or shotgun(Disclaimer-on opening day) or at least that's the plan unless I get really hungry for the taste of tree chicken..lol

I WILL have an alternate menu in mind...lol

I wanted to make this post for another reason that's not archery related.

Please!!!! Remember our veterans... more the ones that didn't make it back or who still suffer the results of war.

I'm not bragging or complaining but I can tell you from 1st hand experience if you've ever been in one(a war) then you will always suffer from it whether it shows to others or not. Not all of the wounds of war are visible to eye.

Thank all you veterans!!

God bless,Mudd

I hate to burst your bubble Roy, however, Missouri squirrel season has all ready opened. They moved the opening this year.

Saturday sounds like your opening day Mudd! :) I was surprised to learn last week it opened on the 22nd. I may spend a little time looking for some tree rats myself this saturday. I think the limit was increased this year also but I would have to have an exceptional day to fill that with the bow!
I probably will take a rifle as I have been seeing a couple of coyotes trailing deer on my trail camera and I need to take care of them if I get the chance. I saw them twice during deer season but not close enough for a bow shot. With a .22 I could have done him in! I had 2 of them with in 10 yds while scouting for turkeys but I was without any weapon but rocks, the second one caught me drawing one back to thump him and headed out.

Thanks to ALL the Veterans who have served our country especially those who made the ultimate sacrafice!!

Had a fun walk in the woods. I was pleased with my shooting even though I forced myself to do all of it left handed this time out. Mudd=0.... Squirrels=Won!...lol
