Since I've given up on turkey hunting for the season, I've switched to bowfishing. Had my first outing this week with some luck after the first couple shots. The bighead and silver carp are not doing much yet and it looks like I've missed the common carp spawn. I still seeing some gar trying to spawn.

If mid-state UBMers along I-44 want to shoot some fish this Saturday, give me a call. I'm going to be at the inlaws all weekend and need an excuse to slip away for few hours. (Franklin, Crawford, Phelps counties area)

I wish I could join you, Joe, but I'm gonna try one more time to kill a turkey.

I haven't been out yet. Wish I'd have seen you post sooner would have loved to have gone out but as windy as it was I'm not sure it would have been very productive. I did get my grass cut for the family get together today. Keep in touch, Columbia's not that far from me. My problem is I work about every other weekend but maybe we could hook up somewhere along the line.

We need to get back to having a UBM bowfishing day. Robert North and I were talking the other day about going to Ted Shanks Conservation Area, north of St. Louis. If the districts reps (HINT, HINT) would all sponsor a bowfishing day in their area, we could get a lot of fish stickin done.

I've been wanting to bring my boat to the Rendezvous for years and have just never done it. Maybe this year I'll have to do it. There is some great bowfishing around Hermann. Maybe we can get Robert North to bring his rig and get a few folks taking turns out on the river.

As the District Rep for area 4, I am issuing a challenge to all the UBMers. Our local archery club will be having a bowfishing tournament on June 12th. This will be open to any waters in Mid-Missouri. Once you have checked in on Saturday AM here in Columbia, you have the day to shoot were ever, as long as you are back by check in at 4PM. It's open to everyone, both boat shooters and bank shooters. Within 30 minutes of the check in point, there are at least 10 spots to get on the water and shoot fish. I will have something in the next issue of The United Bowhunter about the tournament or you can check out www.columbiaareaarchers.com for more info.

Let's shoot some fish!!!

Will do Mudd. With this high water rising, I may end up just walking the banks of Eagle Bluffs on Saturday.

I got out Thursday night wiith a guy who had a big enough boat to tackle the Mo river and his son and I shot the hell out of them. I'm guessing 20 between us. The water was very muddy and prevented us from seeing a lot of them. My buds son shot an Asian out of the air. I was hit twice by flying fish but killed a dozen or so of their relatives. The boy is hooked and I'm sure we will have another trip next week.

Well, our tournament got rained on but we still had a good time. Roy "mudd" Williams and Kerwin Crawford, both UBMers, were there. Most folks had a crappy day. 133 total fish shot with 8 shooters. We had 8 other folks when we started, but they never came back to the weigh-in, they must have not done well.

We filleted all of the asian carp and grass carp and a about 1/3 of the common carp and donated all of that meat to D-D Farms. D-D Farms rescues big cats from around the US and takes care of them. We were able to give them about 100 lbs of fillets before our arms gave out from filleting. The lions, tigers and cougars should be happy tonight.

No one remembered their camera except me and I was too busy to remember to take some pics. I guess we all know what fish look like.
