I was hoping someone would post about Missouri's Archery History.
I believe that is Earl Hoyt JR.
That group of bow hunters, were some of the first in MO. I believe the man on the far right to be the first successful bow hunter from MO, does anyone know his name.

Exactly right, Rick... Lets see if anyone can answer your question about anyone else in the pic...?
You wanted Missouri bowhunter history... Who are these two in this pic?

I know who these two gentlemen are. Everyone should know the legend on the right. I will see if anyone else knows.
Here's a few hints on the young fellow:
He is a Missorian, and did belong to UBM at one time. I don't know if he is a member now. I never took the time to get to know him, but wish I had.
He makes a great custom bow, and started bowhunting at an early age.

Jerry has it right. That is Charlie Lamb sitting along side Fred Bear, now that has to be a memorable moment.

Let's see if anyone knows:
What year was the first bow season in Missouri?
What year was the first deer killed, and by whom?

I asked our state biologist for this exact information years ago.. Lonnie Hansen emailed me all the Missouri Archery "history" from the beginning through 2004.... (see below)
First Missouri Archery season, 3 days of bowhunting-- 1946..
First year to get a Archery killed deer--1950..
To my shame I do not know the Bowhunters name...

That's very interesting information. We're fortunate to have the seasons and amount of deer we have. Thanks to those before us who made that possible.:)

The archers in the image posted above are (left to right) Harry Weber (behind), Earl Hoyt (hand up), Jay Reeg, Jim Hillman, Ross Bristol, Paul Jeffries, Jack Compton (killed first deer in 1952) and Joe Hennessy (kneeling).
It seems we have contradicting data, wonder which one is correct.
