Connecting Kids with Nature: Missouri "Be Out There" Summit
DATE: Saturday, April 10
TIME: 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
LOCATION: Runge Nature Center, Jefferson City, MO
Dear Friend,
Please join us for a national webcast and local discussion on reconnecting kids with nature. On Saturday, April 10, 2010, the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) is hosting this event at the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City. This summit is for anyone interested in connecting kids with nature.
The central portion of the event is participating in a national webcast organized by the National Wildlife Federation. The webcast will feature Texas Representative Carol Alvarado, NWF President & CEO Larry Schweiger, and video messages from Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon. It will also have a panel discussion entitled, "New Partners and Innovative Strategies to Address the Indoor Childhood."
In addition to the webcast, come learn about the new Missouri Children In Nature Challenge - a new initiative championed by Governor Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon. It challenges communities across Missouri to take advantage of state programs to educate children about nature, and to create new opportunities for kids to experience nature first-hand.
Lunch and group discussion will immediately follow the webcast.
