I happened across a three part interview with long time Fred Bear Archery employees while watching the Traditional Bowhunters Journal on line...

I just could not quit watching this "history" about Fred and the lifestyle he created at Bear Archery. Pretty neat stuff. Did you know that Fred was color blind? I didn't and I own a Fred Bear book...

In one of the discussions he mentioned it.
What a great person.

Evergreen,

That is neat.. How and where did you have the chance to meet Mr. Bear?

Fred died the year, 88' that I bought my first Missouri Archery tag.

Becoming involved more and more with bowhunting over the years I was lucky to get to meet and speak with a few big names in our sport here in Missouri.

Earl and Ann Hoyt at the MO Deer Classic a couple different years in Columbia and Ken Beck many times at UBM functions... Always a treat to speak with those who paved the way for the rest of us...

I met Fred one time in Colorado when he was promoting Archery and brought a lot of his trophies to the show. Met him again in the early 80's and he was in a electric wheel chair and on oxygen.

Funny thing, the first time I met him I was so inspired I traded a Fox double for a Super Kodiak and still have it. 1969 vintage.

Never met Fred, but I was lucky to see and finally got enough nerve up to talk to Earl Hoyt at one of the UBM gatherings. I'm glad I did. I like Ken Beck and have talked to him. Even shot a 3d course with him in the group. He likes to RAZ about your shooting, but he was funny.
