Hello I use to belong to UBM fro 5 years or so. Since I could never make it to any gatherings due to work I dropped out. Now I have retired and find I have plenty of time on my hands. I was wondering if anyone would share some places that I could camp in the Southern part of Missouri and try my hands at Hog Hunting. I am not asking for anyones specific spots just a general area that I may have some success. Thanks Elmer

Good luck, I don't know of any hot spots. I think the hogs are few and far between, but who knows.

There was a herd around Lake Wapapello but I think the Corps and MDC did a pretty good number on them. There was also a herd in the Bismark Area but not sure of the status?
It seems any Corps or public land has seen some introduction of them. MDC talked about making it illegal to hunt them to prevent people from "stocking" them. There is a major effort to eradicate them and anyone who has a chance should shoot them on sight!!
Anyone stocking them should be fined out the rear as they destroy habitat, food sources, and and even devour the young of other species.
Yes I have been on a few hunts for them but only to try to eliminate any we found.
Kill them all!!!

Thanks Tom for the reply. From what I have read, they do terrible damage. I thought it would be a way to do what I like most bow hunting and do the state a favor at the same time.

I read in the conservation magazine from Missouri that hunting them would actually be like finding a needle in a haystack. Can you guide me to what counties I should investigate. Thanks

There are a bunch of hogs over in Texas County around Licking, MO. My cousin and his friends shoot them on a pretty regular basis. There is a lot of National Forest land around the Big Piney River that you can hunt on.

I've read over and over what a problem they are and we are encouraged by MDC to shoot them but I've made several trips to areas that are reported to have a good population only to be told once I get there that they're aren't any.

I've all but lost any interest in hunting them in Missouri since they are so scarce.

This has been my experience but if anyone ever tells me they have eyes on and invite me to join them you can bet I'll be there if at all possible.

God bless,Mudd
