I was on another forum and a similar question came up. So I sat down and counted the years. I just completed my 26th year of bowhunting. Wow, and it is still fun.

I'm still a pup! I've only been at it for 11 years. But what I lack in experience I more than make up for in enthusiasm.

I have been asked that before and stated 20 years or so. So I thought back and counted, it is actually over 30 years if you count the two times I bow hunted for several years then quit before I finally started back over 25 years ago and haven't stopped. My guns have not been out of the rack except to oil for 25 years. Man time does fly.

Well I guess if I look back a long ways I have bowhunted for about 40 or more years. Going thru stuff at my mom's house last week, I found some pictures of me with the Shakespeare recurve she bought me for Christmas when I was about 13 or 14. Also found some pictures of the squirrels, rabbits and groundhogs i took with it back then. I did chase critters with the old fiberglass bow before that.

I started later in life, in 1993, at the age of 30. Been making up for lost time ever since!!!:D

I bought my first Missouri Archery tag in 1988 for I think $11.00.
I've bought a tag every year and in every state I've lived since. A lifestyle for sure...

Yeah, tempus fugit...!!!

I started in '78. Didn't know what I was missing. Hope I'm still at going strong when I'm 78.

I guess I was 6, killed my first rabbit with a bow at 7. Ok that had to be 1952

I really love this sport.

I got started late. I believe my 1st trip to the woods with a bow of any kind was in the early 70's. I had played with bows off and on in my younger years but didn't think of them as a serious hunting tool until then.

I kind of got bored with archery but come to find out it was the tool I was using that had caused my boredom so I switched.

A friend loaned me an old Carrol recurve and well.. the rest is history..lol I've made a full circle from whittling out my own from Osage Orange, hickory, yew and just about every other wood I could find to stick a string on. I tried my hand at laminated bows and even went so far as to build one with glass on it.

These days I have decided to spend my time shooting bows instead of trying to build better ones since all I ever made was a stick I could put a string on and fling an arrow.

I make myself available to any and all who have an interest in learning how to shoot a traditional bow. I have a fairly good supply of cheapo bows in varying draw weights. I made sure I have some for folks both right and left handed. So if you know anyone who lives close-by and has a desire to pick up a traditional bow and fling some arrows send them my way.

God bless,Mudd
