I feel it coming, fall will soon be here and we will all be back in the tree stands enjoying the greatest adventures that the world has to offer. It's time to re-examine all your old hunting gear with safety in mind. Also, I know that there are several of you out there still not wearing a harness. Take it from someone who was lucky. (I fell about 12 feet, in the dark, in a strange place, and had only a couple of scratches, bruises, and a busted head.) Many will not be that lucky. I was ignorant and thought that I could climb my stand without my harness...it took too long. I spent the rest of that morning laying on the ground with blood running down my face, no idea how to get back to the truck, and no way of finding the guy who took me. Broke my tree stand, which is what caused me to fall. Another point, make sure you know how to put your tree stand together PROPERLY. I had a borrowed tree stand and wasn't familiar with it. Looking back on it, I did EVERYTHING wrong. Don't be like me. Know your gear, know where you are, and always always always wear your harness. Climbing, sitting, standing they make some that are really easy to use now and they are really cheap compared to the cost of your life.:)
